Comfrey has been used in European medicine for at at least two thousand years. Its traditional name ‘knitbone’ refers to comfrey’s powerful ability to heal broken bones. Comfrey was highly valued throughout British and European history for its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, astringent and other medicinal properties. Modern medicine has confirmed these properties with multiple medical trials showing that comfrey products aid in the recovery from sports injuries and help manage symptoms and pain for osteo-arthritis and back ache sufferers.

What is comfrey used for ?

Comfrey has been used in European medicine for at least two thousand years. Its traditional name ‘knitbone’ refers to comfrey’s powerful ability to heal broken bones. Comfrey was highly valued throughout British and European history for its anti-inflammatory,analgesic, astringent and other medicinal properties.

What about comfrey and modern medicine ?

Modern medicine has confirmed traditional medical uses properties with multiple medical trials showing that comfrey products aid in the recovery from sports injuries and help manage symptoms and pain for osteo-arthritis and back ache sufferers.

What other uses does comfrey have ?

LComfrey is great for making compost as it contains more nitrogen than all but very few plants. Comfrey has deep roots that help break up soil and bring nutrients to the surface.

What are the five ingredients ?

We use only mature dried comfrey leaves (Symphytum officinale), coconut oil, beeswax, alcohol and essential oil (tea tree, lavender, melissa). Note that all of these have antimicrobial properties which is why we require absolutely no preservatives.

What is the environment like?

We are situated in a green hilly landscape best known for Nerada tea and about 100m above sea level. The area is situated at the foothills of the Misty Mountains and it receives about 3m of rain a year. Combined with its deep red volcanic soils this makes for one of Australia's most productive agricultural areas.

What is the farm like?

Our 4.5 ha farm comprises deep red soil, rainforest and rocky lava flows. It is a funny kind of shape with a large creek on half the boundary and a spring fed small pristine creek flowing through the property. We are situated off the Palmerston highway about half way between the tourist attractions of Paronella Park and Mamu Skywalk.

I heard comfrey is toxic - is it true?

Comfrey cannot be sold as a food because it can be toxic when ingested in large quantities. Notwithstanding this, recipes that have been passed down the generations can be found on the internet demonstrating that only excessive use will lead to liver disease. Our products are strictly for external use.

With regards to the Therapeutic Goods Administration classifying comfrey on a poison schedule, we would like to point out that their classification of Cannabis as deadly poison with no use has resulted in the criminalisation of many good and productive Australians.

We Promote Healthy Living and Natural Products

We live in a sea of ‘reversion’. That which is good, such as taking care of your own health and making your own informed decisions on your own body, has been vilified, and that which is corrupting our very genetics has been glorified. We support self-care as the primary and preventative healthcare with herbal (complementary) medicine products.

Customer Review

Unfortunately Australian regulations prevent us from posting any reviews regarding the effectiveness of our products in addressing symptoms or helping with healing of skin, muscle or joint tissue.
